We are a non-profit organisation, founded in Hanover in 2024, which is committed to promoting education and environmental protection in the Shingal region of northern Iraq.

Why is environmental protection important in Shingal?

The Shingal region in northern Iraq is not only historically and culturally significant, but also home to unique flora and fauna. However, it is severely jeopardised by climate change, deforestation and a lack of infrastructure. The effects of climate change, such as rising temperatures and increasing droughts, are hitting Shingal particularly hard and making life more difficult for the local population.

An intact ecosystem is essential to ensure the quality of life of the local people. Agriculture, water resources and clean air depend directly on a sustainable approach to nature. Through targeted environmental protection measures, we can not only protect nature, but also improve the livelihoods of the people in Shingal.
